About Sherry
Sherry Ludwig has been serving as Trustee on the Fallbrook Union High School District Governing Board since 2010 and is currently an appointed Commissioner on the San Diego Commission on the Status of Women since 2013. She is planning to run for re-election as school board member in Fallbrook’s local elections in November 2014. Sherry’s volunteer efforts in public service include her commitment to education and women’s rights. Her Fallbrook roots run deep as a member of her community for 36 years. She is the parent of two children who attended Fallbrook schools.
Effective Advocate for Public Education
As a trustee on the local school board, Sherry promoted the concept of a Community Engagement Meeting, allowing for community members to provide input to the board of education. This “forum” concept was later expanded to include a valuable Student Engagement Meeting. Sherry’s colleagues on the school board elected her to be Clerk of the Board in 2012 and re-elected her in 2013.
As a board member, Sherry’s decision-making has been informed by her active membership on the Fallbrook Union High School District Wellness Committee. In response to the concerns of families, Sherry has listened and provided input on topics ranging from the reform of school meals to collaboratively working with her fellow school board members on anti-bullying legislation and safety on campus.
Sherry’s commitment to education and to public service stems from her belief in the mission of the American Association of University Women, an organization which values lifelong learning and the empowerment of women and girls locally, nationally and globally through advocacy, research, education and philanthropy.
